About: Ayame is a member of the Sohma (Souma/Sōma) family, a family cursed by the Chinese Zodiac. Randomly, members in the family are born cursed with the spirit of an animal from the Chinese Zodiac. When hugged by a member of the opposite sex, under an extreme amount of stress/embarrassment, or specific conditions usually related to their animal spirit, they will turn into their respective animals. The transformation lasts a random amount of time, and when they change back into humans, they do so in a poof of smoke, and are left naked (obviously, as their clothes are shed as they transform.)

Ayame's animal is the snake, and he has no problems with crawling into anyone's skirt, shirt, pants, or dress if cold weather hits and he transforms.

Appearance: Like his brother (who is said to look exactly like him,) he is exceptionally beautiful (though that's not surprising, considering the fact that many males in the family seem to have been blessed with amazing genes.) With large gold eyes, soft features, a thin frame, and exceptionally long (and gorgeous) silver/white hair, Ayame’s physical appearance is, perhaps, overbearingly feminine– but that’s quite all right with him.

His manner of dress is as eccentric and colorful as his personality. Purple and red seem to be his main colors of choice, but he’ll wear pretty much whatever suits his mood. One thing in common with the majority of his outfit choices is that they’re inspired by traditional Chinese attire.

In short, there’s no damn way to miss him (even if you ignore his usually dramatic entrance.)

One huge contrast to his feminine appearance is his voice, which, while velvety and entrancing (if obnoxious when he’s being annoying,) is obviously very much male in sound.

Personality: Flamboyant. Energetic. Childish. Irresponsible. Immature. Self-centered. Selfish. Flirtatious. Extravagant. Dramatic– Ayame is all of these, and more. He’s outspoken to a fault, and outrageously colorful. He doesn’t seem to care what people think of him, perhaps because he thinks of himself as the greatest thing since sliced bread, which leads to outrageous behavior and caters to his selfish, self-centered nature. He’s extremely open and often ruins more “private” moments that are best left alone, tends to act as though he’s continuously overdosed on sugar, and seems to get a kick out of annoying people. However, despite his brash, open nature, he doesn’t go out of his way to hurt people– in fact, he usually doesn’t realize he’s hurt anyone until after everything is over and done with.

Though Ayame is usually annoyingly eccentric, he can and does have his more serious moments. While he acts like a moronic highschool girl whose very veins run with sugar, he is, in actuality, quite intelligent. This intelligence, when it does show up, is usually (unfortunately) ruined by outrageous behavior that follows it. For example, during his highschool years, when he was president of the Student Council, he made quite intelligent claims about the subject of teenagers and sex ... and promptly fell into a speech about how all of the male students’ sexual desires should be directed toward him. The speech completely invalidated anything intelligent he had said just moments before, but Ayame, the crazy nutcase he is, didn’t seem to care.

He’s passionate about what he cares about, as well, and admires the personality traits in other people that he believes he lacks (a good example of this is Hatori, who is the only person Ayame really listens to because he admires him that much.)
